  3. Re: entry clearance as a partner for Ana Souza, Brazil passport number ending 4521

  4. Dear Sir or Madam,

  5. I am writing in support of the application of my wife, Ana Souza. I am a British citizen, and my passport is enclosed.

  6. We first met in person on 14 March 2023 in São Paulo, where I was working on a six-month project for my company. We met at a friend’s birthday dinner and spent most of my weekends there together until I came home. We married on 9 August 2025 in São Paulo.

  7. I have worked for Harbour Design Ltd as a structural engineer since 6 June 2022, on a gross salary of £41,500 a year. My employer’s letter, payslips and bank statements are enclosed.

  8. We will live at Flat 2, 14 Larkspur Road, Bristol, which I rent. It has two bedrooms, and no one else lives there. I will support us both, and we will not rely on public funds.

  9. We plan to submit this application on or around 2 February 2027.

  10. Yours faithfully,

  11. Tom Hughes28 January 2027

Writing your own

The tracker writes this letter for your own application from what you’ve told it: both names, the route, the apply-on date, the home and each kind of income, and your story in your own words. Whatever it doesn’t know is left as a [gap in square brackets] for you to fill. Edit it in the page, then download it for Word or as a PDF to sign.

It puts your words in order and never rewrites or argues them. If either of you has been refused a visa, overstayed or has a conviction, it leaves that part for a regulated adviser to write.

Questions

Is a sponsor letter required for a UK spouse visa?

No rule in Appendix FM or Appendix FM-SE lists a letter from the UK partner among the specified evidence. Couples often send one to set out the relationship, the income and the home in one place, each pointing to the document that shows it. The tracker lists it as recommended, not required.

What should a spouse visa sponsor letter include?

The UK partner’s status, how the couple met and married, the income relied on with the documents that show it, where the couple will live, and the date the application will be made. Each sentence about money should match a payslip, statement or letter in the bundle: Appendix FM-SE paragraph 2 lists the salary evidence, and the income rule is £29,000 a year.

Who signs the sponsor letter?

The UK partner, in their own words, signed and dated. It is their account of the relationship and their money; the site arranges the parts and leaves the words to them.

Is the sponsor letter the same as the employer’s letter?

No. The employer’s letter is specified evidence under Appendix FM-SE paragraph 2(b): it confirms the employment and gross annual salary, how long the job has lasted, the period paid at that salary, and whether it is permanent, fixed-term or agency work. The sponsor letter is the UK partner’s own.

Each note checked against GOV.UK: Immigration Rules, Appendix FM-SE, GOV.UK and GOV.UK: Immigration Rules, Appendix FM on 8 November 2026. Ana and Tom are fictional. Information, not immigration advice. Whether a letter and its documents meet the rules is a judgement only a regulated adviser can make: have your bundle checked.
